Our latest rankings have turned up less than favourable. We went out to Vancouver last weekend and came home empty handed, dropping us a few spots on the charts. There is nothing to worry about as of yet. If we even just qualify for the playoff round this weekend we will gain another 15 points and shoot us way back up the rankings! We have been preparing relentlessly in our week off to make sure we come out firing in the ‘star-studded’ event in Portage la Prairie, the ‘Canad Inns Prairie Classic’ this weekend.
Our last event, the ‘West Coast Curling Classic,’ saw us leave the event with a horrific 0-5 record. We were extremely disappointed with the outcome. We lost our first 3 contests by one point, and played well enough to win each one for sure. We reflected on the weekend, and realized we are playing good enough to win, however sometimes curling can be a cruel mistress. We just need to stay focused on our goals and continue to work intensely in preparing for our coming events.
We are excited to start our next event Friday, Oct 19th at 10:00am against a surging William Lyburn. Willy got the best of us in our first battle of the year in the quarter-final in Saskatoon, but we look to change the fortunes and send them down to the B event early in the bonspiel.
