Decisive Farming CurlingVille presented by Crescent Point Energy had another record breaking year! The traction this initiative is gaining year over year is staggering and the number of kids enjoying the day is almost to the max that the four of us can handle! It is absolutely wonderful to see how many kids are being exposed to the game that has given us so much, we have to take a second to thank the organizers and sponsors for making it happen!
Our stops this season were chosen from an application process that allowed all clubs throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta to submit applications and tell us how they are committed to Agriculture and Junior Curling in the club. It was overwhelming the amount of applications we received and choosing the three locations was an overwhelming task!
The three finalists were:
Unity Curling Club
Wilkie Curling Club
Estevan Curling Club
The 2 runner-ups were exposed to a curling camp for all the juniors, with time for pictures, food and questions of the team. The Grand Prize winner (Wilkie Curling Club) received a day of Curling, which included Curling Camps, lunch (sponsored by Decisive Farming) which supported the local rink and a local agriculture based charity, and a game against the local champs! It was a great day and the turnout was unbelievable. Thank you to everyone who applied and thank you to the amazing host towns.
Sherry Solomko from Unity was responsible for spear heading the event in Unity. We thank her and all the organizers for the hard work and below is one of many notes the team received from people that enjoyed the event. Thank you to our sponsors for making it happen! We look forward to growing it in the future to reach even more kids! The media coverage these events are getting only adds to the growth of the initiative, thank you to the media for covering the Decisive Farming CurlingVille presented by Crescent Point Energy, so closely.
“Our organizing committee has already received dozens of text messages and emails thanking us and telling us to pass on their thanks for this event, which was obviously very well received.” “We are hoping your team enjoyed this event as much as we did. Wishing you the best in the remainder of your season and know that you've gained 53 junior fans as well as dozens of other fans from Unity. Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity!” – Sherri Solomko, Unity Curling Club
