This will be our last update before the short Christmas break! We are excited for our 10th event of the year starting right after New Year’s in Perth, Scotland; the “Mecure Perth Masters.” This is a big event for us, as it is important to garner up some international experience before we get thrown in the spotlight during a world competition sometime in our near future hopefully!
This past weekend we finished the second leg of the grand slam series in Kelowna, BC. We finished the round robin with a 2-3 record (one game shy of the playoffs). All in all we have a lot of positives to take away from the weekend, our 2 wins came against John Epping (5th ranked team in the world) and Kevin Koe (#1 team in the world this season). We have now proved we can run with the big dogs and it is fun to see this group progress!! We were also able to secure about another ½ hour of national television coverage!
The Saskatchewan Curling Association also announced on December 18, that we have qualified for the 2012 Provincial Tankard (Provincial Championship) through the Canadian Team Ranking System birth. We are the #1 ranked team in Saskatchewan and have earned a direct spot to provincials, bypassing playdowns!
Yesterday we attended the first stop of the Decisive Farming Curling Tour. It was a great day in Prince Albert; we started the day with a short talk to the kids about good work ethic and hard work, we then proceeded to a fun on-ice clinic with the kids and ended with pizza, autographs, and photos with our championship medals! It is fun to give back to the sport we love! Please check out our website in the next couple days for photos of the day in Prince Albert!
We would like to thank everyone for their continued support throughout this season; it means the world to us! Without the support of our families, friends and sponsors this journey would not be possible.
We wish you, your families and friends a very Merry Christmas and a safe and enjoyable New Year!
