With some help from Yorkton curling legend Gerry Adam filling in for the absent Dallan Muyres, the boys captured the US Open of Curling title defeating Reid Carruthers with a steal in the 8th end. The team picked up $7000.00US for the win. They completed the 5 game round robin with a 4-1 record and a low cumulative draw to the button number which gave them first place overall seeding going into the 8 team playoff round. In the first playoff game they defeated Craig Brown from Madison, Wisconsin 6-3. They went right back onto the ice and played Mick Lizmore from Edmonton, Alberta defeating them 6-5. In the final we drew the short straw and started the game without hammer. The boys were down 3 early and chipped away at the scroreboard until they found themselves in a situation that allowed them to steal the winning point.
This is our 3rd straight final in a row on the WCT winning two of them. Please read more about the season's progress in a recent Saskatoon Star Phoenix Article. http://www.thestarphoenix.com/sports/Saskatoon+Laycock+breaking/10704747/story.html
