The team is in the middle of ramping up for the 2nd Grand Slam of the season in Sault St. Marie from November 19-23. Our pool has just been announced and we know we will have to come out firing as our first game is against the reigning Brier champs John Morris! We then finish out our next 4 games against, Shuster and McCormick from the U.S., and Jeff Stoughton and the streaking Mike McEwen from Manitoba. We are pumped to get going again. Please tune into Sportsnet all week for updates, games, and our cool looking new gear!!
Our last event took place in Selkirk, Manitoba in one of the best attended slams the younger guys have played in, and it was a blast! We played well all week and ended up 3-0 and into the playoffs before our last round robin game. This was something new for this team and shows another great stepping stone in the team’s development; exciting stuff! We hope to continue that play as we progress into the middle part of the season. We ran into the red hot Mike McEwen in the quarter finals, who has won 4 of 5 spiels to start the season.
We wanted to once again talk a little about our Decisive Farming CurlingVille presented by Crescent Point Energy. It is going be a great event this year and due to high demand, we have put in place an entry application form for clubs around Saskatchewan and Alberta to get a chance at hosting the reigning brier reps! The tour will see us stop at three locations, with the two runner-up locations receiving junior curling clinics and the champion getting a junior curling clinic, a game against Team Saskatchewan and a luncheon with proceeds going to the rink and local charities! We are extremely excited about this and the entries have been flowing in steady. If you are interested in hosting, please inquire as entries close on November 20. Thank you to Decisive Farming, Crescent Point Energy and all our supporters for making this possible.
